SALME HOLMES-MULLAN It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Salme on Thursday, September 30, 2004 at her residence. She was her own woman right to the end - living her life with a proud and cherished independence. Mom was an indomitable and spiritual woman with a rich, vibrant and tumultuous life story. Salme was born in Estonia in 1915, the daughter of Hans Kuusema and Anne Massow. After losing her family, home and possessions through the war, Mom embarked on her "incredible journey". We are forever grateful and humbled by the treasure trove of remarkable stories recorded in "On the wings of memory". We can fully understand how mom was incapable of being inactive. "Smokey" worked for over 30 years at R.B. Russell School, as a teachers assistant in the Home Economics Department, finally retiring at the age of 83! For many years, as a single parent lovingly providing for two daughters, Mom worked a second job at Central Park Lodge, as a nursing assistant. Preparing Sunday dinners for family and friends was a special joy for Mom. We have many fond memories or our lively get-togethers. Gardening and reading mystery novels were also favourite activities. Salme will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Ester (Dan) and Krista (Bob) grandsons, Clayton and Kyle; special niece Vicki; relatives and friends whose love and companionship were greatly cherished. She was predeceased by her husbands, Albert Holmes (1984) and Jim Mullan (2001). On Tuesday, October 5 at 11:00 a.m., Salmes funeral service will be held in the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 637 Buckingham Rd., with Pastor Lanny Knutson officiating. Interment will follow in the Brookside Cemetery, 3001 Notre Dame Ave. "You Are In Our Hearts Forever We Love You Mom" WOJCIKS ALL BELIEFS & FAITHS FUNERAL CHAPEL & CREMATORIUM 897 - 4665
